A microgrid consists of small, self-contained electric components that connect to the grid. These systems are very flexible. They can generate their own energy and send it directly to the grid. They can also operate independent of the grid to provide energy for businesses and communities.
Energy generated by microgrids use a variety of energy sources including natural gas and solar energy. Flexibility continues as energy generated by the microgrid can also be stored in batteries. This increases their ability to quickly respond to meet energy demand.
