By 2025, Hoosier Energy projects to supply its customers with at least 15 to 20% of their energy from renewable sources.

This achievement highlights the success of Hoosier Energy’s portfolio transition, which began with their Board of Directors voting in 2020 on the planned closure and replacement of the Merom Generating Station by June of 2023. Since that announcement, Hoosier Energy has been in negotiations to sell the 1,000MW facility to Hallador Energy.  Hoosier Energy will buy 100% of the plant’s energy and capacity through May 2023, reducing purchases to 22% of energy output and 32% of its capacity beginning in June 2023 and through 2025.

The 200 megawatt (MW) Riverstart Solar project will supply renewable energy to Hoosier Energy and its members coming online in 2022.

The 150 MW Ratts 2 Solar project will supply renewable energy to Hoosier Energy and its members coming online in 2025.

The 120 MW Rustic Hills Solar project will supply Hoosier Energy and its members coming online in 2025.
